TL;DR

  • HSC results in Bangladesh will be published on October 15, 2024, at 11:00 am.
  • Results are prepared using subject mapping due to disruptions and canceled exams.
  • Exams began on June 30 but were postponed and later canceled amid protests.
  • Over 14 lakh students registered for the exams across various education boards.

The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations in Bangladesh are set to be published on October 15, 2024, as confirmed by Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and head of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee. The announcement was made to The Daily Star, with results expected to be available around 11:00 am.

This year’s HSC results have been prepared using a subject mapping method due to significant disruptions. Marks for six canceled exams were calculated based on students’ previous performances in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams. For subjects where exams were conducted, answer sheets were evaluated based on the full marks for those subjects.

The HSC exams commenced on June 30, 2024, but were disrupted by violent protests during the quota reform movement. These disruptions led to the postponement of remaining exams after the fall of the Hasina-led government. An interim government rescheduled the exams for September 11, but amid ongoing protests by some candidates, the remaining exams were ultimately canceled on August 20.

More than 14 lakh students were registered for this year’s HSC examinations across nine general education, technical, and madrasa boards. The use of subject mapping aims to ensure that students receive fair assessments despite the unprecedented challenges faced during this examination cycle.
