  • The festival featured categories such as Narratives and Experimental, aiming to enrich storytelling with AI, under the theme “Synthetic Stories, Human Hearts.”
  • Gisele Tong’s ‘To Dear Me’ won first place, followed by Egor Kharlamov’s ‘One Way’ and Mansha Totla’s ‘Jinx’ in second and third places, respectively.
  • The festival encourages AI experimentation in visual storytelling, highlighting AI’s growing role in the arts and new storytelling opportunities.

The Reply AI Film Festival, an innovative platform showcasing short films created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), concluded with an awards ceremony at the Hotel Excelsior in Venice. Organized by Reply, a company specializing in AI-enabled business models, and in collaboration with Mastercard, the festival attracted over 1,000 submissions from 59 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, China, South Korea, and India.

The festival’s theme, “Synthetic Stories, Human Hearts,” aimed to demonstrate how AI can enrich storytelling, creating narratives with emotional depth. According to Reply, the festival’s goal was to “show how AI can enrich the narrative, creating deep and meaningful stories.” The competition was divided into four categories: Narratives, Experimental, Documentary, and Pilots, with the first two being the most popular among participants.

The first prize was awarded to ‘To Dear Me’ by Gisele Tong, a poignant story about a young woman dealing with the memories of her parents’ divorce and her mother’s loneliness. The second place went to ‘One Way’ by Egor Kharlamov, a narrative exploring themes of second chances and redemption. ‘Jinx’ by Mansha Totla, a retelling of events from World War II, secured the third position. These films can be viewed on Reply’s official website.

The festival not only highlighted the creative potential of AI in filmmaking but also encouraged experimentation with AI as a creative tool. The organizers believe that such competitions reflect the increasing integration of AI into the arts, offering new opportunities for storytelling with fewer resources. The event emphasized the synergy between human creativity and AI, showcasing how technology can be an ally in visual storytelling.

The Reply AI Film Festival is part of Reply’s broader initiative to promote new technologies among younger generations, fostering innovation and providing a platform for experimentation. This initiative is part of the Reply Challenges, which aim to engage new generations in technological and creative competitions. Through these efforts, Reply continues to drive a culture of innovation, demonstrating the potential of AI to enhance human creativity in the arts.
