From a modest middle-class family to representing Bangladesh on the biggest stages of World, B. Proshad Das, Mr. World Bangladesh’s journey to top has been a tale of sheer passion and dedication. A tale woven by nothing but the will to be recognized, to make a name for himself drove him to make the “im” from “impossible” vanish away.
His educational life started off with his father’s ambitious dream of having his son study from an English Medium background, and so he did. Besides academic life, early on he discovered his artistic nature. His passion for being a sportsman built him to be disciplined and grounded. Later on, he realized that no matter what dreams are, the only key to achieve them is being fit and healthy. From that day till now, he wakes up early in the morning everyday, at 6AM, to workout with one burning desire in his heart – To Be Recognized! His search for supremacy eventually led him to watch a speech of “Rohit Khandelwal”, the Mister World 2016, about the wonderful transformative power of fitness, which inspired him to dedicate himself to physical and personal development.
Like many other dreamers and successful people, his journey to top hasn’t been smooth. He overstepped a lot of obstacles, but he never gave up! Stepping into the fashion world was out of his box which was something really new to him, and also financial difficulties were his biggest rivals. But instead of giving up, he pushed himself beyond his limits. At that moment, the world suddenly became paralyzed by the attack of COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of giving up on his dreams, he looked beyond and above others as he started researching fitness more and more. Later on, he earned the certificate of “Certified Nutrition Coach” with an astounding 87% marks from ISSA (International Sports Science Association), proving his dedication and belief in the importance of health and wellness.
This hit him with the idea of launching his own fitness brand. He later on founded “Attic Veins” aka “AV” which is solely dedicated to promoting health consciousness. From that day on, he has worked with more than 50 dedicated clients inspiring them to transform their life in a much healthier way. For him, fitness is much more than creating a personality, it’s about creating an environment that fosters and promotes health and positivity. As he says, “If you want to be healthy, your surroundings need to be healthy.”
As already told, no journey to the top is smooth. His journey in the modeling industry has proved his passion, but these achievements came from a few setbacks. Back in 2021, he participated in the big stage of “Face of Bangladesh”, which is a regional competition of a big festival called “Asia Model Festival” held in South Korea. He went through a motivation drought in this period of time as he couldn’t finish in the top 10 among 60 other participants. But his defeat wasn’t in vain as he faced the most crucial words from his mother: “You didn’t get selected because you gave 100%, but don’t you realize that the person who got selected gave their 200%?” These words struck him like lightning, and he started working harder than before!
Through his dedication and sheer willpower of improvement, he won the “1st Runner-Up” in the “Mister and Miss Glamour Look” competition of 2023. This worked as a charm for him as he says, “This was my first big achievement and the happiness of my parents was everything to me.” This win gave him the biggest morale boost that he needed to continue in his way, because he knew he was on the right path! He felt the need to improve more. So, he joined as an apprentice in the camp of Azra Mahmood, as she is one of the best in the industry. He started working in her campaign, to work harder, to improve himself beyond what he was before. All of his hard work paid off, winning the “Face of Bangladesh” title in 2023, the same competition that he couldn’t get through in 2021. This victory earned him his place to represent Bangladesh in the biggest asian festival in the world of modeling, “Asia Model Festival” in South Korea, where he performed exceptionally well, making his country proud and known on the Global Stage. “This was the most emotional moment of my whole life that I can call myself Bangladeshi”, he said.
This was a dream come true for him! As he mentioned, this was the first time he was attending so big in his life. He met a lot of famous international choreographers, models, and designers. The most proud moment for him was being able to represent himself as “Bangladeshi” on one of the biggest international stages. He had pleasant conversations with a lot of people he never thought he’d ever see in person. These conversations were vital for him as these professionals shared their tips which made him point out what he is lacking, what he needs to improve!
He started working on all the points he noted down to push him beyond the borders, to reach the standard of an international model. The only motto he believed in during this time was “When God loves you, he showers you with opportunities, just keep working harder to have them in your hands”, as he said. So, he kept working to achieve it. So, God blessed him with the opportunity to seek beyond his horizon.
Later on, in 2024, he got the opportunity to participate in the “Mr. World” competition and he felt like this is “The Opportunity” for him to finally raise his wings and fly. And, all the hard work, perseverance, sheer dedication, pushing beyond his limits, the disciplined lifestyle, the constant improvement finally gave him what he wanted all his life, the title “Mr. World Bangladesh 2024”, leaving every other contestant behind, he was where he set his goal from the very beginning, AT THE TOP!
Does it stop here? To answer this, he said, “The goal is not to win it, the goal is learning from wherever and however we can”. To go even beyond the observable horizon, he will be joining the International stage of “Mr. World” in Vietnam, being flag bearer of Bangladesh, to introduce the nation to the whole world in a different way.
For this journey towards success, his life has been constant on his self-improvement. “You have to be better, not the best.” According to him, the path towards perfection isn’t the right mindset to achieve something. He reflects on his own motivation, “To go somewhere, you have to know where you are, what you are, and where you want to go”. “The journey is in your hands. If you have your goal, just start walking and never stop—-no matter how much struggle you face.”
His message to aspiring youth is very powerful and yet so simple: “Never set your goal to be the best—set it to be ‘better and better.”
