Dhaka, Bangladesh — The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Md Arman, also known as ‘Boma Arman’, in connection with a deadly bomb explosion that resulted in the death of a man named Raj. The arrest took place on Thursday evening at the Geneva Camp in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area, according to a statement from RAB officials.
The arrest follows a violent altercation on November 1, 2024, between two rival drug-peddling groups vying for control of the Geneva Camp, a densely populated area often associated with criminal activity. The clash escalated into a chase and counter-chase between the groups. During the confrontation, Arman allegedly threw a crude bomb at his rivals, which tragically injured 10 to 12 bystanders. Among those injured was Raj, who was rushed to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
On November 6, Raj’s cousin filed a murder case at Mohammadpur Police Station, naming several individuals, including Arman. Following this development, RAB initiated an operation that led to Arman’s capture. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) Shihab Karim of RAB-2 confirmed the arrest and stated that Arman has been handed over to Mohammadpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The incident has drawn attention to the ongoing turf wars in Geneva Camp, which have long been a source of concern for law enforcement due to frequent clashes between rival groups involved in illicit activities. The use of explosives during these confrontations marks an alarming escalation in violence.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case, and further arrests may follow as they seek to bring all responsible parties to justice.
