Linkin Park has announced a new album titled “From Zero” featuring a new lead vocalist, Emily Armstrong, and drummer Colin Brittain. The album is set to release on November 15th, over seven years after the tragic death of former lead singer Chester Bennington in July 2017.
The band revealed the lineup changes during a livestream performance on Thursday, where they also debuted the lead single from the upcoming album, “The Emptiness Machine.” Armstrong, known as the lead singer of the alt-rock band Dead Sara, and Brittain, a songwriter and producer who has collaborated with artists such as Papa Roach and One OK Rock, will join long-time members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn. Original drummer Rob Bourdon has decided to step away from the band.
Reflecting on the band’s journey, Mike Shinoda stated, Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future.
Linkin Park, known for their unique blend of rock and rap, achieved massive commercial success in the 2000s, with Bennington’s powerful vocals playing a significant role in their popularity. Since his passing, the band has released several reissues, including 20th-anniversary editions of “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora,” and a greatest hits collection titled “Papercuts” earlier this year.
Armstrong brings a wealth of experience to Linkin Park, having led Dead Sara through three studio albums and frequently performing covers of artists such as Rage Against the Machine, Led Zeppelin, and Nirvana. She has also contributed backing vocals to Courtney Love’s solo album and co-written tracks for Demi Lovato.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the new dynamics and sound that Armstrong will bring to the band. Linkin Park has scheduled a series of performances this fall to showcase their revamped lineup, with the following tour dates:
- September 11 in Los Angeles, California at the Kia Forum
- September 16 in New York, New York at the Barclays Center
- September 22 in Hamburg, Germany at the Barclays Arena – Hamburg
- September 24 in London, U.K. at The O2
- September 28 in Seoul, South Korea at the INSPIRE Arena
- November 11 in Bogota, Colombia at the Coliseo Medplus
The “From Zero” tracklist includes 11 songs:
- From Zero
- The Emptiness Machine
- Cut The Bridge
- Heavy Is The Crown
- Over Each Other
