At least 30 students and teachers from Banophool Adibashi Green Heart School and College were injured in an attack by staff and locals at Aladin Park in Dhamrai, Dhaka, on Wednesday evening. The violence erupted during an argument over missing mobile phones allegedly stolen from rented lockers at the park.

The incident occurred around 5:30 PM as approximately 600 students and teachers prepared to depart after a visit to the park. After discovering missing phones and valuables from lockers, a dispute escalated into a physical assault. Park staff and local residents reportedly attacked the group with iron rods, hammers, sticks, and sharp weapons, vandalizing all 12 buses used for transportation.

Sudip Kumar Mondal, the college principal, stated: “We filed a primary complaint with Dhamrai Police Station. Our priority is ensuring medical care for the injured.” Seven victims remain in critical condition, including one student admitted to the neuro ICU at Enam Medical College Hospital and another undergoing surgery.

Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dhamrai Police Station, confirmed four park employees have been detained. Investigations are ongoing, though no formal charges have been announced.

The attack highlights recurring safety concerns at public recreational sites, with witnesses alleging poor security oversight during the college group’s visit. Authorities urge stricter enforcement of visitor protection measures to prevent similar incidents.
