BD Police Request Public Help in Documenting July-August Protest Incidents via Online Portal

Summary:

  • Bangladesh Police has called for citizens to submit photos/videos captured during July-August 2024 protests via the andolonerchobi.police.gov.bd portal.
  • Submissions will be accepted from February 11 to 25, 2025, with a limit of 5 files per day and 1 file per hour per mobile number.
  • OTP verification is mandatory for each upload, and contributors can only view their submissions through their registered accounts.
  • This initiative aims to gather digital evidence of violence, including attacks and shootings, to expedite investigations.

Bangladesh police have launched a public appeal for visual evidence related to last year’s July-August protest violence, announcing a dedicated portal to collect crowd-sourced documentation. The Police Headquarters revealed plans Sunday to gather photos and videos showing attacks, shootings, and fatal incidents targeting students and civilians during the 2024 demonstrations.

Authorities specified andolanerchobi.police.gov.bd as the official submission platform, accepting uploads from February 11 to 25, 2025. The initiative targets footage captured between July 1 and August 5, 2024 – the peak period of unrest marked by fatal clashes and alleged state violence against protesters.

The portal imposes strict submission limits: five daily uploads per mobile number with hourly restrictions of one file. A real-time OTP verification system will authenticate each submission, while contributors can later access their materials through mobile-number login. This digital evidence-gathering drive follows months of domestic and international scrutiny over security forces’ conduct during the protests.
