Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has received a death threat, prompting an immediate investigation by the Mumbai Police. The threat, issued via a phone call, demanded a ransom of ₹50 lakh from the actor. The call was made on November 5, 2024, and was traced to a mobile number registered in the name of Faizan Khan, a resident of Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The Mumbai Police swiftly registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Bandra Police Station and dispatched a team to Raipur to investigate the matter further. Faizan Khan, the individual under whose name the mobile number is registered, has been questioned by authorities. During interrogation, Faizan claimed that his phone had been stolen on November 2 and that he had already filed a complaint regarding its theft. He further alleged that someone had misused his phone to issue the threat against Shah Rukh Khan.
Interestingly, Faizan also stated that he had previously filed a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan at the Bandra Police Station, accusing the actor of inciting enmity between religious groups. He cited an incident from the 1994 film Anjaam, in which he claimed that Shah Rukh’s character killed a deer and asked his staff to cook and eat it. Faizan has also released a video on YouTube alleging that the actor has links to terror elements.
The caller who issued the threat identified himself as “Hindustani” when questioned by police about his identity and whereabouts. He demanded that Shah Rukh Khan pay ₹50 lakh or face dire consequences. According to sources, the call was received by a Mumbai police officer on November 5 at around 1:20 PM.
This is not the first time Shah Rukh Khan has faced such threats. In October 2023, following the success of his films Pathaan and Jawan, he received similar threats, which led to an increase in his security detail to Y+ category. This level of security ensures that six armed personnel accompany him around the clock.
The threat against Shah Rukh comes just days after fellow Bollywood actor Salman Khan received multiple death threats from individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Salman was warned to either apologize for his alleged involvement in the killing of a black buck or pay ₹5 crore. A suspect in Salman Khan’s case was arrested in Karnataka earlier this week.
As investigations continue into both cases, authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of both actors while tracing those responsible for these threats.
