The United States has extended a substantial financial aid package to Bangladesh, committing $200 million to support the country’s interim government’s priority sectors. This announcement was made on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Padma State Guest House by Anjali Kaur, the Deputy Assistant Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Kaur expressed her enthusiasm about being part of the U.S. delegation during this transitional phase of Bangladesh’s government. She stated, “We have signed an agreement with the government under which $200 million will be provided to priority sectors. We are eager to work with the interim government and will proceed according to the agreement. This agreement primarily aims to advance the government’s priority initiatives.”

The agreement is designed to contribute significantly to the inclusive prosperity of the Bangladeshi people, focusing on enhancing economic stability. Kaur emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and governance systems, as well as empowering the youth to play a pivotal role in the country’s development. She remarked, “The people of Bangladesh are the main priority here. I would like to thank Dr. Yunus and other advisors for the very important discussions we have had. We look forward to more collaborative efforts in the future.”

This financial assistance is part of a broader effort by the U.S. to support Bangladesh’s development. The USAID program in Bangladesh is one of the largest in Asia, focusing on critical areas such as food security, health, and economic development. Since Bangladesh’s independence, the U.S. government has invested over $8 billion to improve the lives of its citizens.

This latest aid package underscores the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Bangladesh, aiming to bolster sectors that are crucial for the country’s sustainable development and economic growth.
