Parvez, a resident of Gazipur originally from Double Mooring in Chattogram, reportedly entered the university campus to attend the “Him Utsab” cultural festival. According to his statement, he was invited by a female student of the university with whom he claimed to share a seven-year friendship. Parvez stated that he had no place to stay for the night and was brought into the hall by his friend. To avoid detection, he entered the hall wearing a sari, a bindi on his forehead, and a shawl covering his face and body.
Eyewitnesses reported that Parvez entered Nawab Faizunnesa Hall with the female student after attending the festival. Suspicion arose when he removed his shawl inside a third-floor room, prompting nearby residents to confront him. Angered by the security breach, students detained him and dressed him in traditional women’s attire before physically assaulting him.
