The film is directed by Sheikh Jisan Ahmed, whose production company, Jisu Entertainment, is known for recreating iconic scenes from Hollywood and Bollywood films, including Hindi films such as “PK”, “Three Idiots”, and the local hit “Monpura”. However, “Room Number 2011” marks their first major project of this nature, confirmed to be based on the events surrounding Abrar Fahad’s death.
“Yes, the film is indeed based on Abrar Fahad’s incident. We sought permission from his family before proceeding. Abrar’s younger brother, Abrar Faiyaz, provided us with crucial information, and we also interviewed Abrar’s roommate at Buet for further insights,” stated Jisan regarding the film’s background.
In addition to information gathered from Abrar’s family and friends, the filmmakers relied on newspaper reports and statements from the accused to develop the screenplay. The short film, expected to be approximately 25 minutes long, aims to portray the events truthfully without exaggeration.
Filming for “Room Number 2011” has been completed, and the project is now in post-production. With Abrar’s death anniversary approaching on October 7, speculation has arisen regarding the release date. While the exact date remains unconfirmed, Jisan clarified that they are aiming for a release around this time, possibly on October 5, 6, or 7, allowing viewers to remember Abrar.
The film is set to be screened at a theater in California and simultaneously released on Jisu Entertainment’s YouTube channel and other social media platforms. Jisan shared that the film was completed on a zero budget, with the director initially pushing forward with his own resources. Later, a Bangladeshi organization based in the US, called Ektiphul, stepped in to support the project.
